So there I was, minding my own business in the middle of a chess tournament at the community center. I'm not much of a player, just came along to support my buddy Mark. Anyway, we're on a break, and I wander outside for some fresh air. Suddenly, the sky above the center starts to shimmer like someone threw a massive, invisible pebble into a pond of stars. I squint, thinking it's just my eyes playing tricks, but then I see it — a massive, saucer-shaped object hovering barely above the treetops. It was as if someone took a giant chrome hubcap and decided to make it float. I quickly called Mark, and he comes running out, disbelief plastered across his face. The thing was rotating slowly, with lights in shades of blue and green, pulsing rhythmically. It made a sound, like a deep hum mixed with a melody, something I'd never heard before. And then, just like that, it zipped away, zigzagging across the sky faster than anything I'd ever seen. The whole thing couldn't have lasted more than a couple of minutes, but it felt like a lifetime.
