Witness Account

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 1:30 AM, I observed a bright white orb-like object in the night sky from Kartal, Istanbul, Türkiye. The object was observed above the pet shop building across Yakakent Cd. as viewed from Diamond Life Kartal. The object remained stationary for several seconds. It then appeared to make a slight movement in the opposite direction, as if briefly shifting or turning backward. Immediately after this movement, a distinct hook-shaped feature appeared. The object then rapidly accelerated away at a very high apparent speed and disappeared from view. The total observation lasted approximately 5–6 seconds, with the departure occurring in less than approximately one second. The object remained bright white throughout the event. No flashing lights, navigation lights, or sound were observed. Sky conditions were clear. I was unable to identify the object. This sighting has also been reported to NUFORC (Case #200346) and MUFON (Case #149211).
