Witness Account
While driving toward the cliffside parking, I noticed a bright, silent light hovering near the horizon above the ocean. The object held position for about 30 seconds, then split into three dimmer lights that formed a tight equilateral triangle roughly 200–300 meters across. The three lights rotated slowly clockwise as a unit, then remerged into a single, larger disc-shaped glow with a faint halo. The object accelerated almost instantaneously to the north, stopping abruptly twice mid-course (each stop <1 second), then vanished in under a second — no sonic boom, no contrail. No visible wings, engines, or exhaust; color shifted from warm amber to cool blue-white during maneuvers.Sound: None audible over distant surf and passing cars. Light intensity: Comparable to a streetlamp at 100 m when merged; individually dimmer when split. Motion: Smooth hovering, precise instantaneous accelerations, silent abrupt stops. Atmospheric effects: A subtle, brief shimmer in the air around the halo when remerged. Photographic evidence One smartphone photo from the passenger (slightly out of focus) showing a bright oval glow low on the horizon. Video attempted but only captured 12 seconds before battery warning; video shows the initial hover and the first split. No aircraft were visible on civilian or private flight-tracking apps at the time (checked afterward). Local marine traffic reported no unusual activity.
