Witness Account

i was just finishing my third cup of morning coffee when my neighbor's cat, who had snuck into my kitchen, started hissing wildly at the window. i looked outside and saw a floating disc, almost translucent, shimmering like a mirage above the park. it was eerily quiet, the usual chatter of birds was absent, like they had been shooed away by an invisible force. the disc hovered silently, occasionally shifting from side to side as if it were searching for something. as i squinted to get a better look, it flashed a sequence of lights that seemed to pulse in a rhythm that was almost musical. my heart raced as i fumbled for my phone, but by the time i turned back, the disc had already begun to ascend rapidly, disappearing into the overcast sky.
